U.S. Army Pfc. Jacob Tracy,
20, of Palestine, Il., died on
Sunday, June 17, 2007 in Iraq from injuries suffered in combat.
Goodwine Funeral
Home said that U.S. Army Pfc. Jacob Tracy will arrive in Lawrenceville,
IL around 8:45 a.m Saturday and he expects they will be in Palestine about
an hour later. But he said we should post 9:30 a.m. just to
be safe.
The
route will be Route 50 to Route 1 to Route 33, so we would like to see
people posted from Gordon Junction to Palestine.
OPCC will be furnishing
and serving drinks and cookies during the visitation, as well as providing
a hospitality area with food for the soldiers participating in the guard
and ceremonies. They post a 24 hr guard at the foot and head of the
casket and change every hour. We are also serving a family dinner
after the service at the Village Hall in Palestine, so there is lots to
do!

Immediately post that Marsha
Peters got a call from Sheila Tracy around 5pm asking me to pass the word
on to email the Governor's office immediately asking that they allow Jacob's
cousin to return from Iraq to attend the funeral. They only have until
tonight to get that done as it is such a long trip home. The Red Cross
turned them down.

The Army Hymn
Oh, Lord of Hosts! Almighty King!
Behold the sacrifice we bring!
To every arm Thy strength impart,
Thy spirit shed through every heart.
Wake in our breasts the living fires,
The holy faith that warmed our sires;
Thy hand hath made our Nation free!
To die for her is serving thee.
Be Thou a pillar for to show
The midnight snare, the silent foe;
And when the Battle thunders loud,
Still guide us in its moving cloud.
God of all Nations! Sovereign Lord!
In Thy dread name we draw the sword,
We lift the Starry Flag on high,
That fills with light our stormy sky.
From Treason's rent, from murder's stain,
Guard Thou its folds till Peace shall reign,
Till fort and field, till shore and sea
Join our loud anthem: praise to thee!
